INTRODUCING OURSELVES TO POTENTIAL NEW MEMBERS A SHORT BRIEFING PAPER: APRIL 2010
1. Careers England is the trade association for careers related businesses and trading organisations. We are a registered company, limited by guarantee. We are governed by our memorandum and articles of association.
2. Our full members all have equal voting rights, and appoint the Board of Directors. Meetings of Members are held periodically, usually twice per annum. All members (full and associate) are consulted as plans and priorities are discussed and translated into business plans for the association. All full members of Careers England also receive a daily political and media monitoring service on all key all-age education and skills issues direct to nominated e mail addresses

5. Our Board has already established three TASK GROUPS to address issues of importance to the membership in services for young people (The 13-19 Task Group), adults (The IAG for Adults Task Group), and all-age quality issues affecting career guidance services (The Quality Group). Each Task Group involves senior managers/practitioners from within the membership, nominated by each member; this ensures that the Groups are able to draw upon direct experiences of those delivering or managing direct delivery of front-line services for the public. Associate members are also welcome to participate in the Task Groups. Membership of these three Task Groups is shown below. Policy Papers, Discussion Papers, responses to Government consultations et al are usually drafted with direct input from the Task Groups as much as the Board. From April 2010 the Board has resolved to establish a fourth TASK GROUP on Workforce Development matters, to be led by Sue Gale and to be chaired for the Board by Paul Chubb.
